Visiting San Lucas Toliman

Normal off the shelf medicines, toothpaste, soap, standard flashlight batteries and so on are readily available in San Lucas - also the Parish clinic is well stocked ... don't load up your baggage unecessarily. San Lucas is 5,000 ft above sea level - normally we don't get malaria, although passing along the coastal plains, one could get bitten by a malaria carrying mosquito. The temperature is normally in the 70's or low 80's during the day, and drops to 60º before dawn (down to about 50º in December, January). There are two seasons - wet and dry: in the dry season it might rain once a month, in the wet season, the mornings are often bright and sunny, and the rains come in the afternoons. Plan what clothes you want to bring accordingly!  It's cheap and easy to have your clothes washed during your visit
