A major activity when schools celebrate their anniversaries is the annual school excursion.

Students go by bus to visit one of Guatemala's major cities, and usually a nearby water park or fun place. Many students have never even been to nearby towns. The excursion is something they will remember for a long time.

These photos are of a junior high excusion, to the city of Esquintla. The students finish by running on the trip home with a 'symbolic flame'
